Home Repair
If you meet federal income guidelines, own and occupy your home, and live within SEND's geographic boundaries, you may be eligible for assistance through SEND's home repair programs. You must also hold the title to the house and property taxes must be current. We give preference to persons who have owned their homes three years or more, and particularly to the elderly, the disabled, veterans, and families with minor children at home.
First, SEND will work with you to determine what repairs are needed, based on the condition of your home. Repairs we consider include, but are not limited to:
New roofs and gutters
Furnace and water heater replacement
New breaker boxes and electrical upgrades
SEND repair projects can range from $1,000 to $25,000.
SEND’s Home Repair program is made possible through federal funds utilized through the Community Development Block Grants, partnerships with other not-for-profits like Rebuilding Together Indianapolis, and generous contributions from our neighbors and supporters
SEND has been a proud recipient of Federal Community Development Block Grant funds for over 20 years. The City of Indianapolis grants these funds to SEND so that we can help income-Qualified homeowners make crucial repairs to their homes. This ensures that these neighbors can continue to live in their homes by creating decent, safe, and sanitary housing for neighbors as they age or cope with disabilities. This has a wider effect of helping to create equitable housing and healthy neighborhoods with a mix of incomes.
